Biography
Claire Leavitt studies American political institutions, with a particular focus on Congress and the presidency. Her research interests include legislative institutions, Congressional oversight and investigations; partisan polarization and gridlock in federal and state legislatures; political networks (among legislators, legislative staff and interest groups); federalism; and the role of gender in legislative behavior. Her work has been supported by the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) and the Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy. She earned her Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University, her M.A. in Political Science from Boston University and her B.A. in History from the University of Michigan.
