Sara Eddy

As assistant director of the Jacobson Center, Sara Eddy (she/her/hers) hires, trains, and supervises the Jacobson Center peer writing tutors; acts as managing editor for Smith Writes; and works with academic departments to improve their writing pedagogy through the Writing-Enriched Curriculum program.  

Sara has a doctorate in American literature from Tufts University, with a research focus on race in literature of the American West. She is author of two full-length collections of poetry: How to Wash a Rabbit (Cornerstone Press, 2026) and Ordinary Fissures (Kelsay Books, 2024). She has also published three chapbooks of poetry: Jewelweed: Poems about Plants (Finishing Line Press 2026), Full Mouth: Poems about Plants (Finishing Line Press, 2020) and Tell the Bees: Poems about Bees and Beekeeping (A3 Press, 2019). She has published widely in print and web-based poetry journals, including Threepenny Review, the Baltimore Review, and South85, among others. She lives in Amherst in a house built by Emily Dickinson’s cousin.
