Younes Rahmoun: Here, Now is the first North American exhibition devoted to the art of Younes Rahmoun, one of Morocco’s leading contemporary artists. The exhibition takes place at four locations at Smith: SCMA, Lyman Plant House, Paradise Pond, and the Ada and Archibald MacLeish Field Station. It features new site-specific commissions alongside a selection of major sculptures, drawings, videos, and installations that Rahmoun has made over the last 25 years.

Botanical Bodies

January 31–May 30, 2025

Botanical Bodies: When Identity Blossoms on Skin explores the intimate relationship between nature and personal identity through photographs and stories of individuals adorned with botanical tattoos that celebrate the beauty and diversity of plant life as a form of self-expression. Each image tells a story of connection to nature, heritage, and personal meaning.

A World Class Museum

The Smith College Museum of Art (SMCA) is now open on all floors for the first time since 2020! The renovated third floor features Worlds in Process: Art from the SCMA Collection, which includes artworks from a range of time periods, cultures, materials, and perspectives alongside places to gather and reflect. Visit the museum soon to see it for yourself. The SCMA is free to everyone and welcomes about 35,000 visitors a year. The museum’s collection comprises more than 27,000 objects, representing the diversity of art and material culture across periods and geographies.

Jannotta Gallery

The Jannotta Gallery showcases student artwork throughout the academic year, concluding with multiple exhibitions by senior studio art and architecture majors.

Oresman Gallery

The Oresman Gallery is an exhibition space within the Smith College Department of Art that is dedicated to showing recent work by professional artists.

A Passion for Plants

Each year, the Smith College Botanic Garden hires a small cohort of students through the Botanic Garden Student Educator (BoGSE) program. These students contribute significantly toward the programming of the garden—helping to organize events, showcases, and educational projects.
